
Mat Rats
Youth wrestling team for boys and girls ages 4 to14 years old. Our mission is to provide the youth of Westminster area the opportunity to experience folk style wrestling for beginners up to advanced level. Mat Rats focuses on the fundamentals of wrestling, self-confidence, discipline, and sportsmanship in a fun and safe environment.

Our season runs from November through mid-February. Novice & Advance Teams participate in the Mid Maryland Wrestling League (MMWL). Competitions include quad team matches, and multiple tournaments in Carroll and Frederick County.

Clinic
Pup team is for 1st year wrestlers 4 - 6 years old. Practice is one night a week with no competitions. The main focus of the Pup program is skill development and providing a fun and rewarding experience for each wrestler. Pup wrestlers will develop age-level appropriate wrestling skills and techniques while improving agility, body awareness, flexibility, and overall athleticism. Building a dependable base of fundamental movements is critical to sustained, long term success for wrestlers.

Novice
Novice team is for beginner wrestlers ages 7 - 14, and wrestlers ages 11 - 14 with 1 - 2 years’ experience (approximate grades 2-5). This team practices 2-3 times a week and competitions are held on Sundays.

Advanced
Advanced team is for wrestlers with intermediate to advanced skills ages
11 - 14 (approximate grades 6 - 8). Skilled wrestlers under 11 will be evaluated by coaches for placement on a case-by-case basis. This team practices 2-3 times a week and competitions are held on Sundays. Advanced wrestlers are encouraged to participate in the MD State Wrestling Association qualifiers and State Tournament (USA Wrestling Membership Required).

*Team placement is only a recommendation and we leave it to the parent(s) to make the decision when their wresters is ready to move up to the next level.

Registration Fees
Clinic fee is $80
Novice & Advanced fee is $135
*All registrations includes a T-Shirt

Registration fees will be collected at the Coach/Parent meeting prior to the start of the season.
